Mojave Audio Takes MIPA/PIPA Award With MA-1000 Signature Series Microphone

Multi-pattern tube mic wins in the Studio Microphone category during the recent Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound show.

Mojave Audio, founded by David Royer (known for his work with ribbon microphones) announces that its MA-1000 Signature Series multi-pattern tube microphone was presented the prestigious MIPA/PIPA Award in the Studio Microphone category during the recent Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany.

The ceremony took place on April 6th before an audience of greater than 300 international representatives of musical instrument and audio equipment manufacturers and distributors.

Products identified for the MIPA/PIPA Awards are chosen by journalists from over 100 dedicated special interest magazines from around the world.

Ideal for vocals and voice-overs, broadcast applications, miking acoustic instruments such as the piano and for use as drum overhead mics, the MA-1000 features an original new old-stock 5840 tube, a 251-style capsule, and a David Royer custom-designed transformer. Among its notable attributes, the MA-1000 includes a remotely controlled, continuously variable polar pattern selector that is located on the microphone’s power supply.

Kevin Parker, director of sales for Mojave Audio and its sibling company Royer Labs, was on-site to accept the award.

“All of us at Mojave Audio are honored to receive this prestigious recognition,” says Parker. “The MA-1000 draws inspiration from some of yesterday’s most revered microphones. David Royer, our company’s Technical Grammy award winning microphone designer, has created a thoroughly modern tube mic that makes a terrific choice for the most demanding recording tasks. This award represents yet another example of David’s dedication and talent.”

The Mojave Audio MA-1000 carries an MSRP of $3295. The microphone ships with an innovative new shock mount design that was created by and licensed from sibling company Royer Labs.
