Sommer Cable has introduced the new SC-Semicolon 4 AES/EBU patch and microphone cable, a compact and durable version of an AES/EBU and DMX capable mic cable with an added mesh of aramid fibers worked into the outer jacket.
Aramid fibers are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibers. In addition to Sommer’s application, aramid fibers are used in aerospace and military applications, for ballistic-rated body armor fabric and ballistic composites, in marine cordage, and in marine hull reinforcement.
Sommer’s new aramid reinforcement is designed as an extra strain relief, increasing the bending cycles and offering added durability. The design is particularly well suited for broadcast and theater engineering, and in applications with belt pull cable drums in location broadcast trucks or on theater stages. It’s also suitable for connecting effects devices and control units where a return signal is required.
