The METAlliance (Music Engineering and Technical Alliance) will be presenting a special one-hour drum recording and mixing workshop at the upcoming AES 2022 Convention in New York.

The workshop, entitled “Rhythm & Groove as the Lifeblood of Modern Music Production,” is slated for Wednesday, October 19 beginning at 11 am local time on the Academy Stage at the Javitz Center. It’s free for those attending the show in providing the opportunity to participate and interact with the METAlliance members.

The METAlliance is composed of award-winning audio engineers/producers Chuck Ainlay, Niko Bolas, Frank Filipetti, George Massenburg, and Elliot Scheiner. They will bring their combined knowledge and experience to AES with a panel on recording and mixing drums as part of their ongoing efforts to share their skills and experiences. Their forthcoming book will be the first in a series.

Previous METAlliance events in Hollywood, New York City and Nashville have covered aspects of recording ranging from microphone techniques and recording basic tracks to critical listening and advanced mixing. “We love working closely with a diverse group of students, pros, educators and recording beginners,” says co-founder Chuck Ainlay.
