Calrec To Debut Hydra2 Operator Stateside At NAB 2011

The new H2O control system further integrates Hydra2 into any multiconsole installation.

Calrec Audio’s Hydra2 Operator is scheduled to make its stateside debut at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 9 – 14, 2011.

Hydra2 Operator or H2O is a new, remotely-accessible management system that enhances the flexibility of its groundbreaking Hydra2 network router.

H2O allows the user to control the Hydra2 network independently from any console control surface. Users will be able to set up routes and configure access rights to all desks on a given network, as well as entering network-wide I/O boxes and port labels for ease of identification.

H2O offers the ability to arrange ports into folders, making them quicker and easier to locate, and also provides central management of network synchronization.

The new software uses Web technologies to allow network access from any tablet, laptop, or PC with a browser, making it compatible with all major operating systems including Windows, Linux, and OS X.

As a single piece of software that gives the customer unprecedented and unsurpassed network control, H2O is especially advantageous for Calrec customers who own large, multiple-studio complexes that may be shared by rival companies at the same time.

For example, if Customer A is working in two studios, the facility owner must be able to ensure he has no access to a third studio where Customer B is working.

H2O access rights make it possible for the facility owner to render Customer A’s studios completely invisible to Customer B, and vice versa.

“Our new H2O control system further integrates Hydra2 into any multiconsole installation,” said Henry Goodman, head of sales and marketing at Calrec Audio Ltd.

“Its user-friendly interface works independently of the console and permits different levels of user access to be granted to different personnel. This gives our customers more control and flexibility.”
