Brainworx Audio has announced the availability of bx_console SSL 9000 J, a new plugin based on Solid State Logic’s large-format 9000 J Series console that includes 72 different TMT (patented Tolerance Modeling Technology) emulations, enabling the building of a 72-channel analog console “in the box.” It’s available here.

The new bx_console SSL 9000 J plugin was developed using the original Solid State Logic 9000 J schematics and built by using component modeling in collaboration with SSL engineers. Additional refinement of the emulation came courtesy of GRAMMY Award-winning mix engineer Michael Brauer, who helped Brainworx by matching the plugin’s sound and behavior to the SSL 9000 J he used on numerous Gold- and Platinum-selling records throughout his career.

Musically, Brauer and other mix engineers have helped create a menu of presets designed to allow users of the bx_console SSL 9000 J plugin to get started without necessarily needing to start from scratch. 9000 Series-only dynamics features such as “peak detect” and expander/gate “hold” are all present, accessible via a scalable UI (User Interface) to adapt to various screen sizes and workflows.

Brainworx has also added plugin-only features such as continuously variable THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and V GAIN (virtual gain) controls designed to add colorful saturation and/or simulated analog noise independently or globally, changeable across all plugin instances. In addition to the original EQ, DYNAMICS, and FILTERS sections, it also offers switchable EQ modes between E- and G-style filters.

Brauer: “The bx_console SSL 9000 J was the missing link going hybrid and in the box.”

Again, it’s available here.
