Audient Zen Console Takes On 100 Album Challenge In Paris Studio

“I like the fact that it's compact, simple to use, compatible with my Logic Pro and has excellent transport controls." - Loic Gayo, musician and producer

Musician and producer Loic Gayot, who recently installed a new Audient Zen console at his Paris studio. last year co-created new label GSound, a catalog of quality music for cinema, TV and radio, and intends to produce 100 albums in 5 years.

Currently ahead of target having just finished his 18th album, Gayot is also putting his Audient desk to work on several other projects.

“I like the fact that it’s compact, simple to use, compatible with my Logic Pro and has excellent transport controls, plus it has a really good, transparent monitoring section,” he says of the Zen. “As for the sound, I love the clarity and depth.

“Zen is the heart of my little studio; I can select the preamp I need and everything is centralized on the Zen,” continues Gayot. “I produce a lot of live music, including jazz, classical, pop and world music, and really enjoy trying to reproduce the different styled sounds from the 60s, 70s and 80s,” he says. “Using the Zen is a big change for me; it’s far superior to my old set-up.”

“This summer I am using Zen on a new fusion project, I will continue composing for the screen and I’m looking forward to mixing my alien band The Wurbs, who will be recording in the studio again soon.

“When I saw Zen I fell in love – again. (I’m married.) It’s ergonomically faultless and fantastically designed; as good as Neve or SSL I think, just at an affordable price.”

The Zen console for Gayot was supplied by Audient distributor Funky Junk.

“Be sure I am very happy with my Zen,” concludes Gayot. “I’m much more of a musician and a producer than a professional engineer, but thanks to Zen I have the opportunity to make it all sound better.”
