Integrated Systems Europe has announced that the Tech Tours program is returning to ISE 2023, with organized visits to six major AV installations across Barcelona. Ticket applications for all tours are open now.

Running across all four days of the show, the tours offer an opportunity to see real-world implementations of many of the technologies shown on the exhibition floor. Six tours are taking place during ISE 2023.

The program begins on the morning of Tuesday, January 31 with a tour of the Antoni Gaudí-designed Casa Batlló, where guests will explore the multi-award winning Gaudí Cube, Casa Batlló 10D Experience and Gaudí Dome. Gary Gautier, CEO of Casa Batlló, will share facts about the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s history and some technical details of its recent immersive rooms and VR/AR-led audio-guides that drive storytelling around Casa Batlló. The chief audiovisual company involved will also present. This tour takes place from 09:30 to 12:30.

Also on January 31, guests will also be able to discover DALÍ : CYBERNETICS, a next-generation immersive journey through some of Salvador Dali’s most renowned works, touring at IDEAL Centre d’Arts Digitals de Barcelona. The tour takes place from 13:00-17:30 and includes a 15-minute show where visitors can step into the metaverse using a digital avatar to walk around in the surreal space with freedom of movement.

“ISE Tech Tour guests will be given a unique insight into the combination of floor-to-ceiling video projections, immersive sound effects, holograms, artificial intelligence and much more. The project is a shining example of a growing frontier of metaverse projects that engages visitors to see Dali artworks up close as well as to play and socialise using our unique platform,” says Rosa Monge, senior project manager and specialist in immersive technologies at Layers of Reality, a collaborator on the project.

The entrance lobby of the Diagonal 123 office building will be the location of a tour on Wednesday, February 1 between 09:30 and 12:00. Recognized worldwide as a benchmark for Smart City concept, Diagonal 123 incorporates technology, sustainability and the well-being of people earning it BREEAM Excellent, Well Platinum and Certification A status.

The tour will be presented by Carlos Delgado, director of operations at audiovisual engineering specialists LED DREAM Group. He will cover the project’s objectives and challenges as well as the creation, design and implementation of the 50-square-meter L-shaped wall and ceiling LED display, office-wide digital signage systems and the creation of 2D and 3D content.

In the evening on February 1, guests are invited to a guided tour of the oldest theatre in Barcelona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu. After extensive reconstruction following a fire in 1994 and subsequent investment and upgrade in 1999, the theatre offers state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting and uses some of the latest theatre technology.

Visitors will be able to walk under and behind the stage, following in the footsteps of performers such as Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo, and see where the Liceu Symphony Orchestra and the in-house choir perform. The tour will also coincide with the first rehearsals for an operatic production of Verdi’s Macbeth (February 16 to March 3, 2023) and guests will be given a unique perspective of technology requirements by the set designer and producer.

On Thursday, February 2 from 9:00-13:00, Mediapro Exhibitions will define its ideas in creating the audiovisual technology behind Mirador Torre Glòries, followed by a visit to the Mediapro Exhibitions headquarters located nearby.

A double observatory is located in the dome on the 30th floor of Mirador Torre Glòries, a 38-story skyscraper in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona. Different spaces such as Hyperview Barcelona combine art, technology, big data and scientific information to reveal the city as a living, evolving organism. A 360-degree observation providing deck views of Barcelona are surrounded by multi-sensory walk-in art from contemporary artist Tomás Saraceno.

The final tour will take place at El Prat Airport on the morning of Friday, February 3 from 09:00-12:30. The specially curated technology-focused tour will be presented by Exterior Plus, revealing the fully digital super-sized signage systems installed throughout the airport.

Juan Jordán de Urries, international sales director at Exterior Plus, says, “Guests will find out more about the combination of leisure, technology and communication as well as data management software which helps to qualify every campaign for mobile double impact.” Exterior Plus will also give an update on the future trends of out-of-home technology, including the use of drone shows and outdoor advertising circuit spaces in the first ever Spanish Metaverse, Uttopian.
