Sound Radix has announced the availability of Auto-Align 2, a significant update to its automatic microphone alignment and phase correction plugin originally released almost 13 years ago.
Auto-Align 2 is designed to eliminate comb-filtering, minimize transient smearing, and spectrally optimizes the phase of each mic to deliver a more full, defined sound captured by the microphones. The new version is also designed to speed up the alignment workflow, introducing a new spectral phase correction module, refined algorithm, an upgraded user interface and more.
In the new workflow, Auto-Align 2 can align all microphones in a single pass, eliminating the need for manual routing and configuration. Incorporating technology from company’s Auto-Align Post plugin, Auto-Align 2 introduces a host of new features that include Spectral Phase Optimization and Absolute Phase Optimization, designed to improve the clarity, size, and stereo image of audio.
Spectral Phase Optimization is designed to correct phase shifts that can occur within specific frequency ranges for a more coherent and richer-sounding audio signal. When using filters during recording, different frequency bands can experience varying phase shifts, leading to a distorted and unclear sound. Spectral Phase Optimization automatically detects and corrects these phase shifts.
Absolute Phase Optimization goes beyond aligning the microphones in phase with each other. It also corrects the overall sound directionality to make sure the reproduced sound matches the original source. This means that sounds that were originally pushed forward will also be reproduced forward in the loudspeakers.

Auto-Align 2 is available now for $199; existing Auto-Align users can upgrade for $99. Auto-Align users who purchased after April 1, 2022 can upgrade for $49. Radical Bundle 3 owners are eligible to upgrade to Radical Bundle 4 including Auto-Align 2 at no additional charge. Auto-Align 2 includes a complimentary license for Auto-Align 1 for backward compatibility.
