Audeze has announced the release of new MM-100 headphones, made in collaboration with 17-time Grammy-winning engineer/producer Manny Marroquin and utilizing the company’s latest planar magnetic driver design combined with a lightweight chassis in a package that weighs 13.2 ounces.

The MM-100 is based on the MM-500, carrying forward the tuning from Audeze’s 90 mm planar magnetic drivers. Proprietary Uniforce diaphragms, Fazor waveguides and Fluxor magnets are designed to provide greater clarity with lower distortion and higher efficiency.

The chassis has a magnesium/aluminum housing joined with gel-filled leather earpads, a suspension strap, and a spring-steel headband designed for durability and comfort. It folds flat for storage and travel.

“I’m so excited to make studio-quality sound available to a broader audience,” Marroquin says. “Everyone working in audio needs a headphone they can rely on, inside or outside the studio.”

“The goal of the MM-100 is to set a new standard in headphone performance for a wide range of users,” adds Audeze CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram. “We worked with Manny to ensure that our professional products work optimally in the most demanding situations.

Stated frequency response of MM-100 headphones is 10 Hz to 50 kHz, with THD of <0.1 percent (at 1 kHz, 1mW). They’re assembled in the U.S. and will retail for $399, with first shipments expected in May.
