RCF To Present Sound Engineering Course Exploring The Science Of Sound

Primary goal is providing engineers with specific knowledge of the latest technologies related to sound, transducers and loudspeaker systems

RCF, in cooperation with the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, will be presenting a Sound Engineering course this coming spring, beginning on March 28 with an e-learning mode lasting for six weeks followed by in-person training on May 14-18 at the RCF Audio Academy in Reggio Emilia, Italy. (Go here for more details.)

The course, presented in English, will be directed by professor Emilio Lorenzani, Department of Science and Methods for Engineering at the university. The primary goal is to provide audio engineers with specific knowledge of the latest technologies related to sound, transducers and loudspeaker systems, and exploring their applications in the professional market.

The course will be taking participants on a learning process that begins with the basis of electroacoustic components like transducers, amplifiers and digital processors through the completion of an actual project that’s based on a real case study. An international reference project carried out by RCF engineers will be used as a study guideline to be followed during the course.

Topics will be grouped into four modules:
1) Environmental acoustics in open air and inner spaces, including design and simulation methods.
2) Transducers and loudspeaker systems, including clusters, arrays and point source configurations.
3) Electronics, including circuit analysis, filters, amplifiers and DSP.
4) Sound systems design, including practical experiences in measurements, listening tests and tuning.

The technical contents provided in this university course will be completed by the direct experience of RCF laboratories. The deadline for entry is March 9, 2018.
