NTP Technology will be exhibiting its latest-generation Digital Audio Denmark (DAD) range of audio production interfaces — the AX64, compact AX Center and more compact Core 256 that are all designed for use in studio and location recording as well as live production environments and film sound post production — at the upcoming 2024 NAB Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center (booth SU1045).

“The pristine audio quality of preamps and transparency of our AD/DA converters originated back in the days of high-res DXD audio recording for SACD,” says Mikael Vest, sales director, NTP Technology. “Media professionals throughout the film, television and music recording industry also saw the benefits of our flexible audio routing and digital format conversion.”

The 2RU AX24 offers 256 Thunderbolt and 256 Dante channels joined by standard features such as PRO|MON monitor control from mono to immersive plus 128 channels of SPQ loudspeaker processing with a total of 1024 EQ bands and individual channel delay. The AX24 can be tailored with additional I/O.

Occupying 1U, the AX Center can be housed in a near-to-hand rack, placed directly on a desktop or used as part of a transportable recording rig. It is equipped to be the centerpiece of audio conversion and monitor control. The PRO|MON section of the control software gives access to a 512 x 64 channel summing processor. SPQ processing offers 128 channels with a total of 1024 EQ filters, as well as delay, for loudspeaker correction in the studio. The internal routing matrix spans 984 x 984 channels, allowing any input to be routed to any output or duplicated and routed to several different destinations simultaneously.

Finally, the Core 256 — the most compact of the series — offers 720 input and output channels. “With Dante, MADI and ADAT ports onboard and versatile and flexible DADman routing control available, it is also a stellar D/D converter that can grab any digital audio channel – convert it if needed – and route it anywhere,” Vest adds. “At 1U high and half-rack width, it can share a 1U rack shelf with an Apple Mac Mini running Dolby Atmos Renderer, Dolby Atmos Production Suite or Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite. For immersive audio post production facilities, this is the missing link that streamlines and optimises multichannel workflows.”

NTP Technology’s DAD Thunder|Core has a stated hardware latency of nine samples, 32 bit floating point resolution, and is capable of handling up to 256 bidirectional channels at 48 and 96 kHz, 128 channels at 192 kHz and 64 channels at 384 kHz. It also supports Apple Silicon processors, macOS Big Sur and forward with a Core Audio driver, as well as Windows 10 and forward with an ASIO Thunder|Core driver.
