On Point Audio Debuts New Subwoofer Systems

The new OPA-118 and OPA-218 subs are designed for musicians and engineers alike.

On Point Audio, Inc. has announced the introduction of the OPA-118 Sub and OPA-218 Sub during Winter NAMM 2011.

The 3,200 watt OPA-118 Sub and 6,400 watt OPA-218 Sub are unique subwoofers.

Both models feature On Point Audio’s NP18N cast frame 18-inch woofer, which employ the brand’s proprietary Single-Side voice coil.

The Single-Side voice coil enhances the woofer’s heat dissipation capability, thereby improving reliability and minimizing power compression.

The Single-Side voice coil also eliminates voice coil rubs as a potential performance problem.

In order to preserve the “narrow-profile” look of On Point Audio’s full-range models, both woofer systems use angled baffle boards that enable the enclosures to be made much slimmer than other competitive single and dual 18-inch models.

Although the sub’s enclosures are short and slim, their deep enclosure geometry and large slotted vents deliver deep, powerful bass response to

< 30 Hz with high sensitivity and impressive transient response.

Both models are equipped with rear-mounted heavy-duty casters and have handles to make them easy to move.

These subs also include speaker mounting poles for elevating full-range speakers.

The OPA-118 Sub and OPA-218 Sub enclosures are built of heavily braced 13-ply, 18 mm marine-grade birch plywood that ensures loss-free bass propagation.

The enclosures are covered with On Point Audio’s PowerCoat finish that is wear-resistant, impervious to water, moisture and looks stunning.

Their heavy-gauge steel grilles ensure complete protection for the drivers.
