NEXO has unveiled the new ID14 compact point source loudspeaker and companion S108 bass-reflex subwoofer, both designed to handle a wide range of applications and available in portable and installation versions.
The ID14, housed in a 5-inch cubed enclosure and weighing in at just under 4 pounds, is a dual concentric design with a 4-inch cone driver (with 1.3-inch voice coil) and a 1.4-inch-diaphragm compression driver. It is stated as being capable of output up to 116 dB SPL (peak), with a frequency response of 120 Hz to 20 kHz. Two directivity options are offered: 100- x 100-degree dispersion and an asymmetric alternative with 90- x 140-degree dispersion, ID14 enclosures hold an IP-55 rating.
Available in black, white and any RAL color, the two versions of the ID14 share common acoustic components. The installation version has an acoustic fabric fitted front grille and a cable gland with 2-core cable for audio input, which offers IP55 protection. The portable version, which uses a proprietary Magnelis steel grille, has a back plate that holds two Speakon connectors.
The companion ID S108 subwoofer with bass-reflex design is loaded with a long-excursion 8-inch Neodymium driver tuned to match the frequency response of the ID14. It too is available in black, white or custom colors on request.
A range of accessories are available for the ID14, including a dedicated U bracket that permits installation on a microphone stand. Two M6 inserts (73 mm pitch) on the rear of the cabinet facilitate wall-mount applications. Recommended amplification is the NXAMP4x1Mk2 powered TDController, which is stated to drive up to four ID14 loudspeakers per channel. A dedicated set-up for each directivity is available on the NXAMP. In addition, the DTDAMP4x0.7, when paired with a DTDcontroller, can power up to two ID14s per channel.
