Carvin Audio has announced the new WM5, designed to supply wired dynamic microphones with wireless capability via a plug-on transmitter working with a companion receiver that can be plugged directly into mixers.

The WM5 wireless system operates in the 5 GHz frequency band and has stated range of up to 200 feet. It can be paired with a Carvin M68 dynamic vocal mic for a turnkey setup or utilized with any other dynamic mic. It’s also compatible with the company’s WG5 wireless guitar/bass system.

Up to four wireless channels can operate simultaneously. Powered via USB, it is stated to provide up to four hours of continues use on a charge. Stated noise is 110 dB, with peak limiting also onboard.

To connect multiple WM5 receivers to a mixer, the company recommends the use of short XLR patch cables since the receiver wide is too large for the spacing on most mixers and thus would require skipping channels in order to make room for the next receiver. Via the patch cables, systems (and their microphones) can be grouped together.

U.S. MAP for the new WM5 wireless system is $199. Go here for more specifics.
