Biamp Introduces Voltera D Networked Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers

Available in 1200-watt or 2400-watt configurations across four or eight channels with onboard DSP as well as tools for tuning systems and additional features; on display at the 2024 ISE Show.

Biamp has announced the introduction of the new Voltera D series of networked amplified loudspeaker controllers (ALCs), which offer onboard digital signal processors, tools for tuning systems, and a host of other features, and they’re on display at the 2024 ISE Show in Spain at the Barcelona Fira Gran Via at booth 3D100.

Voltera D ALCs are available in 1200-watt or 2400-watt configurations across four or eight channels. The line is configurable by either Tesira or the new VenueTune software, depending on user preference and audio network protocols.

Further, the new ALCs support redundant network audio, failover between mains power and backup generators without a reboot, and group-controlled raised cosine EQ. In addition, they provide support of both AVB and Dante and raised cosine EQ below 160 Hz, which is designed to foster more precise elimination of room modes and optimization of the low-frequency performance of a system.

“The Voltera D series is designed to provide extraordinary audio experiences for the most demanding applications where the audio must stay on and a protective mute isn’t acceptable,” says Joe Andrulis, executive vice president of corporate development at Biamp. “Through our new VenueTune software, installers and designers enjoy a simplified design process and deployment of Voltera D ALCs, including the ability to select what amplifiers to drive the speakers with and the ability to predict the current draw and heat dissipation. They also get powerful system tuning and comprehensive system performance monitoring.”

VenueTune software offers control through a graphical interface that uses simple 2D floorplans and a staged workflow to guide system designers and installers. The software also provides extensive performance and usage logging over time, offering users the ability to optimize performance after installation.

Housed in 1 RU enclosures for space savings, they are stated to be capable of high peak voltage output, and using power sharing, can deliver up to 75 percent of the total amplifier power on any single channel. They also offer the option of either Lo-Z or Hi-Z per channel to support hybrid systems, including the ability to manage redundant media interfaces such as AVB, Dante, and AES67.
