AUDI & BMW Shows The Future Of Automobiles At IAA Motor Show With Meyer Sound

At the 2009 Internationale Automobil Ausstellung (IAA) International Motor Show, an eye-opening range of green automobiles of the future was debuted to the world.

Reinforcement from Meyer Sound loudspeaker systems helped auto giants BMW and Audi make a striking impression on the media and other visitors in attendance while ensuring their messages were delivered loud and clear.

“Sheer driving pleasure” was the headline for BMW’s massive exhibition space in Hall 11. Instead of static displays, the new BMW models were showcased while driven on a track, complemented by motion-triggered visual imagery on massive projection screens.

Sound reinforcement came from more than 100 Meyer Sound M Series and UltraSeries loudspeakers and subwoofers, based on a design conceived by Georg Stummer for Berlin-based Blue Scope Communications, and supplied and operated by SHOWTEC of Cologne.

“To implement the sound design with the Meyer Sound systems, we analyzed the EASE data of the speakers in order to identify areas that could cause problems and solve them before the production even started,” says Stummer. “Setup of the systems at the venue went smoothly, which gave us a pleasant amount of time to concentrate on the sound’s aesthetics.”

In the Audi exhibition area in Hall 3, Meyer Sound systems provided optimal speech intelligibility for keynote presentations and press conferences in a space filled with reflective surfaces.

Supplied and operated by Creative Technology Germany, the Meyer Sound system included three arrays of eight M’elodie line array loudspeakers, 40 UltraSeries loudspeakers, four MM-4 miniature loudspeakers, and six 600-HP subwoofers.

A Galileo loudspeaker management system with three Galileo 616 processors was used for EQ and time alignment.
