Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL has installed a new Allen & Heath iLive T112 digital console and iDR-48 mix rack bringing the city's only larger performance venue current with today's technology.

Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL has installed a new Allen & Heath iLive T112 digital console and iDR-48 mix rackbringing the city’s only larger performance venue current with today’s technology.

Built in 1991, the auditorium presents nearly 20 student and faculty directed performances throughout the year. In addition, the 815- seat venue is used by professional and community groups for a large variety of entertainment including symphonies, musicals, lectures and film festivals.

The iLive system was designed and installed by Neil Cooper, senior project engineer with Florida Sound in conjunction with Mainline Marketing.

“Our nation’s oldest city deserves a stellar performing arts center and the auditorium’s antiquated analogue system just wasn’t delivering,” said Cooper. “The iLive system is versatile and can easily be set up in the front or back of house giving engineers ultimate flexibility when mixing for myriad entertainment uses.”

The $1.5 million renovation, which included a new sound and lighting system, new seats and lobby, was completed in August.

“It’s a godsend!” exclaimed Carl Liberatore, Flagler College events technical services coordinator. “We no longer have dead spots in our theater. And, we can use 32 inputs for onstage microphones and still have 16 channels available for wireless microphones, an iPod and a CD player.”

Theater arts majors will be trained to operate the iLive system for all student/faculty directed productions at Lewis Auditorium as part of their course curriculum. “The icing on the cake is that by learning how to mix on one of the top digital sound systems in the industry, our students will be ready for the real world when they graduate,” said Liberatore.
