SynAudCon Offering “OptEQ — Equalization Demystified” At InfoComm 2019

Comprehensive approach to sound system tuning combines design and equalization practices into a logical, accurate, repeatable process.

SynAudCon is presenting “OptEQ — Equalization Demystified” this coming June 8-10 at the 2019 InfoComm show in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center — West.

Led by instructor Pat Brown, the course provides a comprehensive approach to sound system tuning that combines contemporary and legacy design and equalization practices into a logical, accurate, repeatable process.

More specifically, OptEQ is a layered approach to sound system optimization:

Layer 1 is direct field optimization that produces a reference response for the loudspeaker that confirms that it is functioning as designed and to its fullest potential.

Layer 2 addresses anomalies that result from placement of loudspeakers near room boundaries and other loudspeakers. Good choices here can make a system much more equalize-able.

Layer 3 addresses room issues such as low-frequency build-up and resonances, using a dual-domain (time/frequency) approach.

The course is designed for experienced audio practitioners as well as those new to system tuning, with the goal of delivering a clear understanding of what tools and practices are needed to bring sound systems to their full potential.

The course is approved for 24 RUs and will be offered just once in 2019. Included are a course manual, support materials, certificate of completion, breakfast and lunch, and access to the InfoComm 2019 show floor. Cost is $1,499 for InfoComm members.
