Sonarworks Announces Integration with Pro Tools MTRX Audio Interfaces

Pairing designed to make studio calibration faster and easier for Dolby Atmos professionals and multichannel studios.

At the AES NY Convention 2023 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, Sonarworks announced the integration of SoundID Reference room calibration technology for multichannel and Avid Pro Tools | MTRX family interfaces in a pairing designed to make studio calibration faster and easier for Dolby Atmos professionals and multichannel studios.

SoundID Reference is designed to deliver a high accuracy calibration of frequency response and time alignment of channels with sub-millisecond accuracy, including the LFE channel time alignment. SoundID Reference allows calibration of multichannel setups up to 9.1.6 Atmos and meets Dolby requirements for Atmos room tuning.

The SoundID Reference integration with Pro Tools | MTRX family interfaces allows users to upload the measured speaker profile to their Pro Tools | MTRX interface with a push of a button. This release eliminates need for manual inputs, allowing anyone to quickly calibrate and start mixing in Dolby Atmos.

“We are excited to partner with Sonarworks to bring their room calibration method into the Avid ecosystem,” says Mark Corbin, senior principal product manager, Avid. “Not only has it drastically simplified a cumbersome process, but its results are difficult to argue with. Now anyone who owns a Pro Tools | MTRX II, MTRX Studio, or even a MTRX with SPQ card can confidently and easily tune their space to ensure the absolute best possible mix.”

The integration will be available for Pro Tools MTRX interface users shortly after the AES Show. SoundID Reference for Multichannel is available for purchase with the measurement microphone for $549 USD and $499 USD without the microphone.
