After previewing at the 2024 NAMM Show, Solid State Logic has announded the official launch of its new SSL 360° Link plugin that’s designed to allow users to control any third-party plugin via the UC1 plugin controller surface.

The hybrid hardware/software combination of UC1 controller and 360° software provides a “knob-per-function” control of SSL’s 4K E, 4K B, Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 plugins. Available in AAX Native/AU/VST3/VST formats, the software is available free of charge via the SSL Downloads Manager.

“Integrating the control of third-party plugins and bringing them into the SSL 360° ecosystem has always been one of our goals,” says Andy Jackson, senior studio product manager of Solid State Logic. “With the launch of SSL 360° Link, producers and engineers can now supercharge their UC1 by controlling any plugin from the surface, all without leaving SSL 360°’s ‘virtual console’ workflow – it’s a very powerful addition. Best of all, SSL 360° is a free download, and available now.”

SSL 360° Link is designed to allow users to quickly start dropping third-party plugins into their sessions and control them with the console-style workflow that UC1 offers. Any third-party plugins mapped via 360° Link become visible in the SSL 360° plugin mixer (also controllable from SSL’s UF1 and UF8 control surfaces) alongside SSL’s 4K E, 4K B and CS2 channel strips.

SSL 360° Link also comes with a selection of customisable factory maps for SSL channel strip plugins from the likes of Slate Digital, Harrison Audio, Universal Audio, Waves, and Brainworx. While the UC1 is optimized for a typical channel strip layout, any plugin can be mapped using the mapping tool. Third-party “hosted” plugins must be in VST3 format.

In addition, the SSL 360° V1.7 update offerss numerous enhancements across the U-series controllers and SSL 12 interface. Official Bitwig and Digital Performer integration has been added for UC1, UF8 and UF1, greater customization of DAW profile buttons on UF8, customizable jog wheel behavior on UF1, and a momentary talkback feature added to SSL 12.
