Feld Entertainment-produced Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey “The Greatest Show On Earth,” currently on a tour that’s taking it to 50 U.S. cities, is outfittted with an immersive audio system utilizing the d&b audiotechnik Soundscape platform working with a selection of the company’s loudspeakers.
The platform, supporting a production that has 75 cast members appearing in arenas, adds directional sound to put focus on specific areas of the floor at each venue where the show appears, helping to draw and guide audience attention to specific moments and scenic changes.
“Soundscape can accommodate this type of setup because of the delay-processing capabilities,” states Nick Malgieri, advanced systems specialist for d&b audiotechnik Americas. “With a performance area and show floor of this scale, it would be challenging for the audience to know where to look when action and dialogue is happening, and Soundscape was an immediate solution.”
