Real World Gear: Small-Format Line Arrays

Located just south of Miami’s Park West club district, Grand Central offers its patrons a complete experience with live music and club DJs.

The 10,000-squarefoot venue was recently outfitted with a new system featuring Adamson Metrix line arrays as well as other loudspeakers and subwoofers from the company.

Miami-based Beachsound supplied the new system, which is headlined by main arrays, flown left and right at the stage, each incorporating four Metrix cabinets as well as a Metrix W trapezoidal box for optimal coverage in the front rows.

The sound design was executed by Grand Central technical director Titus Woodham, who notes, “It’s amazing how such a small box can deliver such clarity across the entire spectrum while maintaining a full sound.”

Technology Focus
Flexible rigging options include the AIR rigging system, which allows six various rigging angles between each enclosure, measured in the logarithmic scale, while the EIR (Enclosed Installation Rigging) system is for venues looking for lower cost options, without sacrificing sound quality.
