PreSonus has announced the availability of Studio One 6.5, the latest version of its music production software with the Dolby Atmos immersive audio platform that now also includes the introduction of DAWproject, a new file format for project files.

New DAWproject, which is joined by enhancements in workflow, mixing and note editing, is designed to foster easier exchanges between different programs developed by PreSonus and Bitwig Studio. It is also supported in Bitwig Studio 5.0.9 in addition to Studio One 6.5.

DAWproject is provided as a universal import/export file format to allow users to take a project created in one DAW and open it in another, including all session information, markers, and automation. It is designed to eliminate the sometimes complex and time consuming procedures for moving files manually, converting formats, and exporting or importing — DAWproject files include all the most important information in a DAW-agnostic format, including audio and note data, tracks and events, plugins and instruments as well as markers, controllers, and automation.
