News Corporation’s Chase Carey To Keynote Opening Event At 2013 NAB Show

Carey will participate in a question-and-answer session with NAB president/CEO Gordon Smith

The National Association of Broadcasters announced that News Corporation president and chief operating officer Chase Carey will participate in a question-and-answer session with NAB president and CEO Gordon Smith during the 2013 NAB Show opening event, sponsored by Blackmagic Design, Monday, April 8 in Las Vegas.

The session will also include a “State of the Broadcast Industry” address by Smith.

“As a leading executive of one of the world’s preeminent media companies, Chase Carey has valuable insight into today’s multi-platform global media environment,” states Smith. “I look forward to our conversation at the NAB Show and hearing Mr. Carey’s vision of what the future holds for the media business worldwide.”

Carey, who has served as president and chief operating officer of News Corporation since July, 2009, oversees diversified global operations spanning five continents, including the production and distribution of film and television programming; television, satellite and cable broadcasting; newspaper and book publishing and digital media. He also sits on the company’s board of directors.

Previously, Carey was president and chief executive officer of DIRECTV.. He was elected to the position in 2003 by the company’s board of directors, and also served on The DIRECTV Group board of directors.

Prior to joining DIRECTV. Carey was co-chief operating officer of News Corporation and chairman and chief executive officer of the Fox Television Group. He was particularly instrumental in managing the company’s operations and strategy, focusing on its worldwide television business that encompassed the Fox network, television stations, cable programming group, and News Corporation’s international satellite operations.
