LSI Loudspeaker Demo Coming To USITT 2017 In St. Louis This March

Event at the Ferrara Theater, a state-of-the-art live performance proscenium venue, provides a truly relevant environment for evaluating leading loudspeaker systems.

The LSI Loudspeaker Demo is coming to the USITT 2017 Annual Conference & Stage Expo in St. Louis this coming March, specifically on Thursday, March 9 and Friday, March 10. The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) connects performing arts design and technology communities to ensure a vibrant dialog among practitioners, educators, and students.

Open and free of charge to all USITT attendees, audio professionals, church sound personnel and other interested parties, the demo is being held at the Ferrara Theatre at show site America’s Center in downtown St. Louis and will present at least a dozen larger and smaller format loudspeakers from several leading manufacturers.

The demo delivers a unique controlled environment demonstration providing side-by-side listening opportunities, in addition to offering further technical details and pricing information from qualified representatives of each company participating in the demo.

The Ferrara Theater (pictured below) is a 1,400-seat, multi-level, fan-shaped, state-of-the-art live performance proscenium venue, providing a truly relevant environment for evaluating the loudspeakers, which will be based on the stage, with the larger systems flown.

Acoustically the room is quite good, which one would expect from a modern performance venue of this type. The wide aisles and rows mean that attendees will be able to move about the listening area (both front-back and side-to-side) with ease. They will also be able to go to the upper levels for evaluation.

Specifically at USITT, each full demo session will offer two parts: first, a focus on smaller systems, followed by a focus larger systems. In each part, all participating systems are played in a round-robin, random format, supplied with identical audio tracks until the final round, when manufacturers have the opportunity to play their own select track through their systems. Listeners move from system to system, evaluating what they’re hearing and also observing each system’s scale, components and other important details.

Also on the docket are individual demo sessions from each manufacturer offered on both days.

We’ll be providing updates on participating manufacturers, sponsors and more in the coming weeks. Go here to register.
