L-Acoustics KIVA Line Source Loudspeakers Installed At Historic German Concert Hall

The major requirements were low weight, wide and controlled coverage and low visual impact

German L-Acoustics certified provider Soundhouse has installed KIVA WST modular line source loudspeakers at the Max Littmann Saal concert hall in Bad Kissingen, in the Bavaria region of Germany.

The historic concert hall, built in 1913 and paneled in cherry wood inlaid with ebony, can accommodate 1,160 people and specializes in classical music and spoken word performances through to blues and rock music.

When the time came to upgrade its sound system, the major requirements were low weight, wide and controlled coverage and low visual impact.

Soundhouse installed a left/right system of eight KIVAs and two KILO low frequency extension units per side, driven by LA8 amplified controllers. “

This system provides an appropriate sound coverage while remaining almost invisible in this historic environment,” says Christoph zur Loye of Soundhouse. “It can be configured for floor and/or balcony coverage depending on the seating situation and number of visitors.”

After installation, the sound team at the venue declared themselves very impressed with the sound performance and appearance of the rig.

“The system is just right in size, appearance and its excellent scalability for the sophisticated ambience of the Max Littmann hall,” says Ulf Seyring of the Max Littmann Saal concert hall. The rigging is very well thought out, user-friendly and visually unobtrusive, while the high sound quality and coverage of the audience area is impressive. This demonstrates the acoustic design of the arrays, the accurate simulation in SOUNDVISION and the great support we received from Soundhouse.

“The overall package, in conjunction with its competitive price, has totally convinced us as users of the system, while confirming the reputation of L-Acoustics.”
