LEA Professional Amplifiers Power First Dolby Atmos Studio In Romania

New facility in Bucharest outfitted with a 7.1.4 configuration utilizing Lipinski loudspeakers driven by Connect Series power amplifiers.

WJB Media, working with Ines Sound, recently opened the first certified Dolby Atmos music studio in Romania, with the Bucharest facility outfitted with a 7.1.4 configuation utilizing Lipinski loudspeakers driven by LEA Professional Connect Series power amplifiers.

The studio is the vision of sound engineer Joe Hellow, who has worked with several top artists and labels and then used the lockdown experience to redefine his music production focus. This i his second experience working with LEA Professional amps, having already created a similar studio in Nashville, TN.

“What sticks out to me with LEA technology is that everything you want in an amp is there,” says Hellow, executive music supervisor with WJB Media. “If you want to adjust the crossovers or sensitivity, or put them to sleep if you’re not listening to music and automatically wake them up, and more. It’s the richest feature set I’ve ever seen with an amp.”

Specifically, the studio employs two Connect Series 354 amplifiers, a Connect Series 702 amplifier, and a Connect Series 164 amplifier. The IoT-enabled four-channel 354 provides 350 watts per channel into 2, 4, and 8 ohms, 70Vrms, and 100Vrms and supports two Smart Power Bridge channels. Conversely, the two-channel 702 delivers 700 watts per channel, while the four-channel 164 provides 160 watts per channel. The 702 and 164 support high-Z (70V or 100V) and low-Z selectable by channel.

Because Hellow is based in the U.S., he utilized the LEA Cloud to maintain the system remotely. “All of the amps are connected via Ethernet, so it’s easy to jump on any computer worldwide and log into the devices,” he notes. “It’s very convenient for many aspects of system maintenance, from simple adjustments to more advanced tunings.”

“It’s a testament to the power of the LEA Cloud that you can support a Dolby Atmos studio from the other side of the world,” adds Brian Pickowitz, VP of marketing at LEA Professional. “This installation is a bellwether of our amps’ capabilities, and we’re very pleased to be part of such an auspicious undertaking.”
