L-Acoustics Consen For Andrea Bocelli Asian Tour

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has embarked on dates throughout Asia, drawing on L-Acoustics‘ strong Rental Network in the region to provide a system in every location.

Appearances in Tokyo, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore saw local agents Kyoritz, Seoul Sound, MSI Hong Kong and CSP Productions respectively supplying V-DOSC/dV-DOSC systems.

However, when the tour arrived in Taiwan, local rental company Winly provided Bocelli’s sound designer Andrea Taglia with an extensive KUDO large format line source system for the Taipei Arena.

“The system was based on a monophonic concept,” said Taglia, “with a center cluster of 16 KUDO dedicated to the floor audience and first floor central balcony, while two side systems of 15 KUDO each covered the side balconies, and two delays of 12 dV-DOSC each provided pristine sound for the 27-meter elevated second floor central balcony.”

Twelve L-Acoustics SB218 subwoofers in arc delay configuration provided uniform coverage throughout the arena, while nine MTD108a boxes deployed as front fills covered the first rows of the audience.

“Using L-Acoustics’ Soundvision prediction software, KUDO proved to be the best solution for uniform coverage of the large arena, thanks to the K- Louver variable directivity design,” said Taglia.

“This helped to cover the closest part of the side balconies thanks to being able to set the K-Louver inside the speakers at a 55 degree angle, while still being able to concentrate enough energy to the far field thanks to the 25 degree option.”

“The mono-source center KUDO cluster provided interference-free coverage to the floor audience, while LA Network Manager allowed full control of all LA8 amplifiers, providing great EQ and delay control of each source for amazing sound in any seat of the sold-out arena, for an unforgettable concert. No other system would have provided such a good uniform coverage.”

“Another benefit of KUDO was that that its small footprint preserved sightlines, while its easy captive rigging system allowed the full system to be rigged in a few hours, leaving plenty of time to focus, trim, align and EQ the day before the show.”

“This meant that show days were relaxed and focused on mixing.”
