K-array Heads Audio Upgrade At Pier 5 In Miami

AV firm DRVCS equips open-air live entertainment venue at Bayside Marketplace with new system utilizing Kayman-KY102 loudspeakers, Thunder subwoofers, and more driven by Kommander-KA208 amplifiers.

Pier 5, a popular live entertainment venue at Bayside Marketplace in Miami, recently received an audio upgrade with a new sound reinforcement system implemented by Florida-based AV firm DRVCS that’s headed by a range of K-array loudspeakers to deliver improved coverage and sonic quality to the outdoor venue’s three bars, stage, and games deck.

The new system utilizes six Kayman-KY102 line arrays on the stage serving as mains, joined by two Thunder-KS5 subwoofers and eight Thunder-KS3 I subwoofers to reinforce the low end. Throughout the two bars and game deck area, 10 Python-KP102 I and 10 Python-KP52 I line array elements are deployed to deliver uniform sound dispersion. Audio power is delivered by three K-array Kommander-KA208 amplifiers, with DSP and configuration control over the loudspeakers via the K-array Connect mobile app.

All loudspeakers used in the project are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions due to their custom marine-grade treatment that makes them resistant to water, dust, and salt corrosion. This is especially important at the open-air Pier 5.

“We are very proud to have been chosen by Breakwater Hospitality Group and Pier 5 to upgrade their audio system with K-array solutions,” said Rusty Waite K-array USA president. “We believe that our products are the perfect fit for this venue, as they combine high performance, reliability, and aesthetics. We are confident that the new audio system will enhance the guest experience at Pier 5 and create a memorable impression on the Miami entertainment scene.”
