Jensen Transformers Announces the GLX Line Isolator

Jensen Transformers announces the ISO-MAX GLX line isolator, a compact balanced line isolator designed to eliminate hum and buzz caused by ground loops in audio systems, that will not degrade the audio quality.

Jensen general manager, Dave Hill: “We have been producing the Iso-Max isolators range for over 20 years, and during this time, we have solved countless problems with noise in audio systems. In most cases, hum and buzz caused by ground loops can be eliminated by inserting a balanced line isolator between the two offending pieces of equipment.”

“However, problems occur when attempting to do this with most budget units as they are simply unable to reproduce music without excessive distortion, particularly in the all-important bass region. So we set out to find a solution that would be both affordable and deliver the type of sound quality that people have come to expect when they purchase an Iso-Max isolator. The new GLX gives contractors and audio technicians an affordable, compact, ‘tool-box-sized’ solution that can be instantly plugged in when confronted with an audio ground loop.”

The single channel GLX is equipped with standard XLR connectors at each end. Inside the GLX is a ‘made in the USA’ custom transformer that isolates the input from the output and blocks stray DC currents.

While small transformers rarely perform well below 100Hz, the GLX is exceptionally linear from 20Hz to 18kHz and it is able to withstand signal levels up to +10dB at 20Hz with less than 0.01% distortion. It is a quick and easy problem solver that will eliminate noise without limiting the bandwidth or introducing phase shift, harsh sound or unpleasant artifacts. Measuring just over 4” long (10cm), the compact steel outer shell provides excellent shielding against electromagnetic fields generated by power cables, dimmers, motors and power supplies – delivering consistently quieter results when deployed. This is augmented with a ‘set & forget’ ground lift switch to eliminate hum and buzz caused by ground loops.

These features combine to make the GLX an ideal problem solver for the audio-visual technician and audio engineer who work in the fast-paced world of live touring, AV rentals and system integration.

The GLX is now shipping with a MAP of $59.99 USD.
