How We Got Loud, Episode 4: David Dansky, Mixing Audio With Texture

Over the course of a varied 50-year career that sprang from an electrical engineering background, he’s worked with a who’s who of adult contemporary artists, provided notable theatrical and venue sound designs, and much more.

David Dansky, who’s been working in professional audio since 1970, comes aboard for Episode 4 of the How We Got Loud podcast, hosted by Chris Leonard. David comes from an electrical engineer background and jumped into an industry that needed a lot of innovation early on. It’s hard to summarize all that he’s ventured into over the last 50 years; however, he’s spent a good deal of his career working with adult contemporary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Engelbert Humperdinck, Bette Midler, and many more.

In addition, David has been a sound designer and production sound mixer for national theatrrical tours such as Tommy Tune’s production of Grease (eventually a record-breaking Broadway run), Tommy Tune Tonite! (also Broadway), Out There Tonight starring Shirley MacLaine, An Evening with Burt Reynolds (co-executive producer with Burt), The Unsinkable Molly Brown starring Debbie Reynolds, Superstars of the Bolshoi, and the Brazilian revue OBA OBA.

And, he co-designed and installed the sound system for the House of Blues-Sunset Strip, which was voted number 1 nightclub in the U.S. In Japan, he designed Jeff Kutash’s dance spectacular Splash and in Las Vegas Splash II: The Next Voyage, which was awarded Production Show Of The Year eight time.
