Houston’s Marriott Marquis Equipped With Electro-Voice

Walker Engineering outfits all public areas on the first six floors of NFL's official headquarters hotel with EV loudspeakers, amplification, and networking.

Named the NFL’s official headquarters hotel during the 2017 Super Bowl festivities, the new Marriott Marquis in Houston boasts 1,000 guest rooms, 52 event rooms, six restaurants and the largest grand ballroom in Texas.

All public areas on the first six floors feature Electro-Voice loudspeakers, amplification, and networking. In all, the job required over 600 loudspeakers and four N8000 NetMax digital matrix controllers.

In the vast lobby-level public spaces, including registration, coffee shop, wine bar and more, EVID ceiling speakers loudspeakers dominate, with dozens of C4.2 and PC6.2 and no less than 322 PC8.2 models.

In the Grand Ballroom, a 39,000 square-foot room divisible into seven independent spaces, 24-each ceiling-hung EVF-1122/99 mains and EVF-1151S subwoofers deliver flexible zoned control for any combination of events. The hotel also boasts the huge Biggio’s Sports Bar, where over 50 ZX1, EVID PC8.2, EVID 8.2HC (high ceiling), and SB122 subwoofers provide consistent, highly intelligible audio for the many video screens and seating areas.

“When we saw the wide range of applications required, we elected to work with our partners at Electro-Voice,” notes Matt Kenjura, manager, Technology Preconstruction for Walker Engineering, which provided all AV and electrical systems for the new facility. “EV’s broad portfolio of sonically compatible speakers and design expertise helped us create a consistently rich, seamless audio experience for guests from the time they exit their cars in the porte cochère, throughout the lobby, event rooms, restaurants and public areas.”
