FBT Makes A Big Impression At California Music Festival

The DJ Booth Music Company of Salinas, California uses FBT loudspeaker array for first music festival with impressive results.

When Noel Saucedo of The DJ Booth Music Company was asked to provide the sound system for the Hot 105.7 music festival in California, he knew he needed a high end sound system to back the show’s big talent.

With the help of Italian Speaker Imports, FBT‘s exclusive U.S. distributor, he found his solution. Armed with 8 MUSE 210LA’s, just four boxes on each side of the stage, and 4 SUBline 218SAs, the engineer set up shop.

With throwback performances by over fifteen acts. JohnnyZ’s Old School Block Party attracted over 3,000 attendees and featured over five-hours of music by 15 well-known performers including: Lisa Lisa, Coolio, MC Magic, Timex Social Club, Spanish Fly and the Cover Girls.

The event was held on the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on May 30th.

Noel and his brother Jose couldn’t have been more thrilled with the performance of the FBT line array rig. “We heard about FBT speakers years ago, when a friend of ours showed us some old PromaxX speakers he had,” said Saucedo. “They were about 10 years old, but were just monsters.” Stating how happy they were to use the rig themselves for the first time, he added, “They’re just so powerful. “The Italians make everything better.”

The DJ Booth Music Company of Salinas, California, which provides rentals for everything from weddings and quinceaneras to corporate events, is no stranger to larger music festivals. In fact, they’ve worked on shows from Soledad to Las Vegas, including several for Street Low Magazine. Still, this this was the first time they’d used the FBT brand for an event of this size.

“We were pumped,” said Saucedo. “The clarity, and crispness were amazing. They pick up all the nuances, not just of the vocals, but of the instruments, too. And the sub bass – we couldn’t believe there were only two on each side of the stage; it sounded like eight.”

Saucedo wasn’t the only one impressed by the equipment. Hearing him smile through the phone, he happily added that Lisa Lisa, someone he admires as “a real singer who belts it out from the heart,” went out of her way to tell him how much she loved the sound he gave her. And when M.C. Magic, someone he’s worked with before, approached him about the new equipment, Saucedo says he was quick to ask for the same rig for his future shows, saying, “You gotta have these.”

Noel and his brother agreed. When asked about his plans for future music festivals, Saucedo simply stated that he won’t be happy using anything else after using the FBT brand. “It’s kind of like driving a Lamborghini for a while and then going back to driving your every day car,” he said. “It’s just not even close to the same thing.”
