dBTechnologies’ VIO Series Covers Snoop Dogg’s Lake Elsinore Show

Advantage Event Solutions deploys new VIO L210 line arrays with VIO S318 subs for The Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2 stop at the Diamond Lake Elsinore stadium.

Hip Hop artist and multi-platinum-selling rapper Snoop Dogg took the road with “The Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2.” The 10-day tour, with stops in the Midwest and along the West Coast featuring hip hop artists such Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound, and DJ Quik, as well as Cleveland’s own Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

Orange County, California’s Advantage Event Solutions (AES), who had recently added dBTechnologies’ VIO L210 and VIO S318 as well as the DVX DM15 TH to their inventory, was hired to provide a PA system that would enable the reproduction of Snoop Dogg’s eccentric sound and posse.

The Diamond Lake Elsinore is an 8,000-capacity Minor League Baseball facility with 6,066 permanent seats, 11 luxury suites and additional on-field seating, the stadium can be transformed into a concert venue with a total seating capacity of 14,000.

“We were looking for a system that provided excellent sound quality with full networking and DSP at an outstanding price point,” says Jesse Cochran, owner of AES. To fulfill the requirements of the sound crew and the venue, a complete dBTechnologies’ VIO line array and sub system was chosen, debuting the system’s first activation in California.

The system comprised a total of 18 VIO L210 line arrays, nine per side, and ten VIO S318 on a center array. The Control8 interface was used to network all the boxes together with CAT6, which enabled full system control, individual adjustment, monitoring, and more importantly, made tuning the system very easy and efficient.

“Hip Hop shows are very sub intensive,” notes Cochran. “Having the networking built in to every dBTechnologies box enabled us to digitally array the subwoofers for even SPL and quick setup.”

“The dBTechnologies’ VIO series is efficient. We covered the entire venue easily. It also performed well, the FIR filters ensured perfectly coherent coverage even at a long distance. The networking and DSP in every box ensured it sounded great anywhere in the venue,” adds Cochran, while further complimenting the user friendliness of the VIO series.

“The audio crew was surprised at how easy it was to fly the system, without a drop of sweat, just using the DT VIO L210 trolleys” concludes Cochran.
