d&b audiotechnik Deployed In Support Of Van Morrison On Tour In The U.S.

Carlton Audio supplies KSL arrays and SL-SUB subwoofers for Ruth Eckerd Hall dates in addition to M4 monitors and V-Series loudspeakers for all performances.

A recent U.S. leg of the current tour by legendary singer-songwriter Van Morrison in support of his 43rd studio album entitled “What’s It Gonna Take?” was supported by Miami-based Carlton Audio with a stage monitoring system utilizing d&b audiotechnik M4 monitors driven by D80 amplifiers along with V7P point source loudspeakers as side fills.

In addition, the first stop on the tour leg, at 2,180-seat Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL, saw Carlton Audio deploying a main sound reinforcement system utilizing d&b KSL line arrays and supporting components. Specifically, the system incorporated left and right arrays each comprised of 10 KSL full-range modules, two SL-SUB subwoofers on the floor per side to bolster the low end, and Y10P loudspeakers for front fill. “The sonic coverage for the Van Morrison date was excellent,” states company owner Chris Carlton.

“The system performed in comparable manner to the ArrayCalc prediction,” says Schon Emmanuel, front of house engineer for Van Morrison. “I spec’d this for the side and rear rejection which are phenomenal. With 16 M4 wedges and a stage with several acoustic instruments and open microphones, this system helps keep much of the room out of the microphones. Great coverage and tone, KSL all day every day.”

Andrew Thom, system engineer for the tour, adds, “With Array Processing and the detail of simulation available in ArrayCalc, it makes it simple to design a KSL system that works well for what we need on this show. Balanced, even coverage across the audience to give everyone the same experience, with great rejection on stage means KSL just works for us.”

The Van Morrison tour will return to the U.S. on September 1, kicking off with a performance in Bridgeport, CT.
