Celestion has announced the introduction of the FTR12-4080DL, a new 4-ohn, 12-inch, cast aluminum-chassis, ferrite-magnet low-frequency driver specifically designed for subwoofer applications.

The FTR12-4080DL has a 4-inch (100 mm) voice coil, with stated 1400 watts of continuous power handling and 88 dB sensitivity with an output frequency range of 20 Hz to 300 Hz. The half-roll elastomer surround is designed to offer improved modal distribution for reduced distortion and enable greater stability at extremes of excursion (with a stated Xmax of 13.6 mm) for a solid, deeper bass response.

The Airflow vented magnet assembly allows for dynamic heat dispersion, minimizing power compression and fostering longevity. An optimized double suspension is designed to provide enhanced control and linearity, while the glass loaded paper cone has a weather-resistant impregnation for added durability.
.
Developed at Celestion’s headquarters in Ipswich, England, the new driver was designed using specialist FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modeling techniques, enabling the engineering team to more quickly achieve increases in performance, including greater efficiency, and exceptionally low distortion.
