Celestion has announced the debut of the CDX14-3055 and CDX14-3045, two new 1.4-inch-exit, neodymium magnet, high-frequency compression drivers designed to offer improved power handling and sensitivity with a lower crossover point and overall reduction in size for use in fixed installation and touring loudspeakers.
The CDX14-3055 offers significant improvements over its forerunner, the CDX14-3050, including an upgraded power handling capability of 120 watts (measured to AES standard) and stated sensitivity of 108 dB. The compression driver offers a lower minimum crossover point of 800 Hz (12 dB/oct) to increase application flexibility as well as a boost in sound pressure level above 5 kHz. The CDX14-3055 is also more compact with an external diameter of120 mm, which reduces the distance between acoustic centers when multiple units are used, offering improved close-coupling in applications such as line array cabinets.
In common with its predecessor, CDX14-3055 incorporates Celestion’s patented two-piece, deep drawn titanium diaphragm and maximum modal suppression phase plug that are desicned to deliver low-noise performance.
The companion CDX14-3045 driver is an upgraded version of the earlier CDX14-3040, this time incorporating a single piece titanium diaphragm. Again power handling capability is increased to 120 watts (measured to AES standard) with a stated sensitivity of 108 dB and a lower crossover point of 800 Hz (12 dB/oct). In addition, the diameter of the CDX14-3045 has also been reduced, measuring in at a 117 mm to improve close-coupling when employed in multiple driver applications.
