BTX Now Offering Belden FiberExpress Field-Installable Connectors

BTX Technologies has announced that the company has added Belden FiberExpress Brilliance field-installable connectors to its product line up.

To save installers time and money in the field, the FiberExpress connectors offer reliable terminations in less than five seconds without the need for termination tools.

Belden’s FiberExpress Brilliance connectors ensure superior, high-performance networks, while also meeting the installer’s need for faster, less complex installations.

The connectors are optimized to be the backbone, horizontal, or fiber-to-the-desk component of any commercial building or data center, and are the connector of choice for high-speed optical networks such as 10G Ethernet, and the more challenging 40G/100G networks of the future.

With FiberExpress Brilliance connectors, all it takes is three simple steps to field terminate a fiber:
• Once the tight-buffered fiber is prepared for installation, insert the fiber into the connector
• Slide the connector’s activator tab toward the fiber to be terminated to bring about the splice crimp
• Slide the boot on the connector body

Because Belden’s fiber termination process is so simple, all installers need is fiber preparation tools; there are no proprietary tools to purchase.

To make the fiber preparation step even easier, Belden has also developed a number of optional preparation installation kits, which range from a very basic connecting kit to a precision fiber preparation and cleaving kit.

With FiberExpress Brilliance connectors, installation planning and set-up times are greatly reduced, as is the cost of training. The simple installation process removes installation inconsistencies, and each connector can be re-terminated up to five times, allowing installers to improve termination yields, which translates to lower material costs and connector waste.

Using an external laser light source, such as a Visual Fault Locator (VFL), checking the fiber installation for proper termination is a breeze.

“The difficulty in terminating fiber has been the biggest reason A/V integrators have resisted using fiber on projects. When fiber is specified, subcontractors are almost always used. Belden’s FiberExpress Brilliance connectors now allow integrators easily to terminate the fiber themselves,” said Greg Schwartz, president of BTX.

“These connectors add value to their installations by providing extremely reliable terminations, while offering time and money savings in the field to enhance their bottom line.”
