AVL Solutions Turns To Alcons Audio In Support Of Fall For Greenville Festival

Event's long-time sound supplier, a member of the Alcons Ribbon Network, equips five of six stages with the company's loudspeakers, including the debut LR24 pro-ribbon arrays for the Main Stage.

The recent Fall for Greenville (South Carolina) annual music festival offered six stages hosting more than 75 live performances, five of them equipped by sound and lighting provider AVL Solutions (based in Greenville) with main systems incorporating Alcons Audio pro-ribbon loudspeakers and subwoofers.

Headed by owner Alan Simonton, AVL Solutions, which has served the festival for more than 20 years, is a member of the Alcons Ribbon Network and has deployed the company’s systems at previous iterations of the event.

Sound reinforcement for the Main Stage was delivered by LR24 mid-size line arrays (eight modules per array and used for the first time at the festival) joined by BC543 triple 18-inch cardioid subwoofers. Meanwhile, the QuickTrip Stage utilized LR18 compact line arrays and BF362 double 15-inch subwoofers and the Berkshire Hathaway stage was also served by LR18 arrays, LR18B compact line array bass modules and BQ211 single 21-inch subs.

The Furman University Jazz & Blues Stage was surved by LR7 compact arrays, LR7B bass modules and BQ211 subs, and finally, the Aloft Stage system took advantage of dual VR12 mid-size monitors and BF362s for the low end.

Despite some heavy rain which caused three stages to have a delayed start on the first day, the rest of the event passed off without a hitch, with all stages seeing full audiences throughout the event.

“This is the first time we had heard the Alcons LR24s and they were freaking amazing,” Simonton says. “They delivered great coverage over hundreds of feet with no problem. Rigging was intuitive and super easy, thanks to the PRRGL24 pre-rig transport trolley in combination with the compression-mode flying option. The BC543 cardioid subwoofers provided plenty of low-end reinforcement.
