Audient ASP8024 A Welcome Addition For Cuyahoga Community College

Ohio's oldest and largest public community college, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) recently invested in an Audient ASP8024 console.

Ohio’s oldest and largest public community college, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) recently invested in an Audient ASP8024 for its Recording Arts and Technology program.

Describing the British-made console as “a welcome addition to the program’s current list of analog desks,” instructor and staff technician Kevin Baylon explains, “We have never had a true in-line console to demonstrate how signal flow can be routed and re-routed through its architecture. I hope that students will appreciate and understand the ASP8024’s abilities in that regard.”

The ASP8024 is a striking centerpiece of a control room containing a wide variety of outboard gear, 24 I/O of ProTools HDX interfaces and 2” 24 track JU24, which is fed by three studio spaces with a total of 88 microphone lines available instantaneously. This is one of several other recording spaces throughout the building’s digital network infrastructure, giving students a wide range of options for creativity and learning.

Providing a broad base of training in music recording and mixing, location sound, commercial production, audio for video and television, internet audio, record production and live sound reinforcement, the program also offers a field experience or internship component, providing on-the-job training at local and national facilities. Graduates are employed in a wide variety of positions within the audio recording services industry.

Originally opened in 1963 as Ohio’s first community college, Tri-C has grown to include the Recording Arts and Technology program, which began operation in 2001 to train students for entry-level positions within the audio industry. 2009 saw the program move its facilities into the Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts where all the acoustic spaces were designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group.
