At the recent InfoComm 2023 show in Orlando, Waves highlighted the recently introduced IONIC 16, a 16-input/12-output SoundGrid stagebox with Waves Signature Preamps designed to complement the eMotion LV1 live mixer that’s housed in a 2U rack-mount chassis designed for durability.
The Signature Preamps are newly designed with discrete high-end analog circuits to deliver added headroom, faster transient response and a lower noise floor, with the gain structure designed to offer wider dynamic range and handle bigger signals. Further, they are engineered to provide analog “warmth” using an analog-modeled HMX harmonic enhancer that can be turned on or off per input.
The IONIC 16’s twelve outputs are joined by two independent headphone outs. The preamp section’s analog impedance selector provides a choice of “classic” 2kΩ and “modern” 7kΩ settings. IONIC’s control panel is available in the LV1’s device rack to allow users to control various parameters in their preamps and outputs.
