The new Tannoy CMS 1201DC large-format in-ceiling loudspeaker, unveiled at the 2010 InfoComm show in Las Vegas, complements the company’s existing CMS (Ceiling Monitor System) range.

Built around a brand new evolution of the high power handling (400-watt rec. power) 12-inch (305mm) Dual Concentric point source driver, the CMS 1201DC delivers clarity, directivity and low distortion.

The new Dual Concentric drive assembly features a treated mid-bass cone and double rolled cambric surround for high sensitivity, as well as a 1.34-inch (34mm) aluminum dome with ferrofluid cooled

Neodymium magnet assembly and a newly designed waveguide for the high frequency unit.

These two drivers are properly merged into one with the high frequency mounted in the throat of the mid-bass; therefore coincidentally aligning both transducers to a point source.

The result is a smooth, uniform response over a wide but tightly controlled 90 degree coverage area – even at higher frequencies.

Specifying the CMS 1201DC into a design for any application is made simple using EASE Address, the unique design verification software package, which is available free on the Tannoy website.

The software package enables system designers to accurately position, model and confirm ceiling distributed speaker systems utilizing Tannoy loudspeaker products.

Each CMS 1201DC comprises of three discrete elements: the loudspeaker driver assembly (mounted on ported steel baffle), a separate (2.78 cubic feet, 78.8 litre) steel back-can with multiple mounting points and an architecturally sensitive white powder-coated steel grille and molded bevel cover.
