TAIT Creates Folding Video Fascia Hydraulic Lift For Paul McCartney Tour

Having worked with the ever-talented Paul McCartney team for over twenty years, Tait was privileged to provide yet another staging solution for the legendary artist’s current North American tour.

To maximize the visual impact of the stage, Set Designer, LeRoy Bennett, utilized TAIT’s 30mm LED MagDecks downstage.

Working alongside Production Manager, Mark Spring, the entire staging concept, which also included a band riser package, was configured to work within both stadium and arena environments.

One of the key elements provided by TAIT was a hydraulic scissor lift that was positioned downstage. When the client needed a completely new concept, TAIT was presented with the challenge of creating a lift that could elevate from 1.2m to 4.6m but still have solid, video fascia on three sides.

Using Nocturne v28 tiles, TAIT built a unique, folding video lift that created a solid wall. Mimicking a Jacob’s ladder concept, the frame structure rises up from within a portable cart and then subtly folds back into place upon its descent. Holding true to a standard of impeccable customer service, the entire concept, including 4 proto-types, was created within 10 days, with crews working round the clock to ensure the product was completed on time.

Mark Spring reflected on his experience during production process, stating, “TAIT was able to work with our needs in an expedient manor, providing us with an optimized stock lifting device, complete with custom facia and mechanics. The artist was happy; the lift effect provided by TAIT was exactly what we were after.”
