Studiomaster Introduces New CORE Array System

Offering two options of self-powered high-mid top and subwoofer stacks designed for portable sound reinforcement applications where wider constant frequency coverage is required.

Studiomaster has announced the introduction of CORE, a new self-powered high-mid top and subwoofer stack designed for portable sound reinforcement applications that include larger and medium-size venues where wider constant frequency coverage is required.

In particular, CORE is purpose-designed for full-scale musical performance, with two variants — CORE 121 and CORE 151 — equipped with 5-inch and 8-inch mid-frequency drivers, respectively. In the CORE 121 these are matched with nine 1-inch-dome HF drivers, and with 12 1-inch-dome tweeters in the CORE 151. This results in two CORE curvature arrays that are designed to provide accurate response across the full mid- and high-frequency spectrum (stated as 200 Hz to 18 kHz) with coverage of 100 (H) x 70 (V) degrees.

Low-frequency support at stated output levels of up to 128 dB is provided by a compact reflex subwoofer with a 12-inch cone driver (CORE 121) and 15-inch cone driver (CORE 151). Both packages are bi-amplified, driven by 300 watts (HF-MF) / 700 watts (LF) for the CORE 121 and 400 watts (HF-MF) / 700 watts (LF) for the CORE 151 (both RMS). This is joined by onboard DSP and an integrated 4-channel mixer.

The mixer module and connector panel is mounted at an angle designed for ease of use and provides two mic/line inputs joined by hi-z instrument and stereo line level inputs, There’s also Bluetooth wireless audio connectivity, selectable link outputs and an independent sub level. DSP processing includes presets for DJ, Music or Vocal applications and provides access to a 3-band EQ, limiter, output delay, master volume and channel metering. Power and audio signals are transmitted from the sub to the curve array via an adjustable air-suspension loudspeaker pole and top hat connector that eliminates external cabling.

Studiomaster general manager Patrick Almond says, “CORE exploits unique hybrid performance characteristics of a curvature array cabinet in providing extraordinary horizontal coverage, within a design with the necessary signal power and throw for a wide range of performance, playback and presentation applications; including — with up to 4,400 watts of system peak power — serious music performance in larger venues. Yet CORE is a sleek, discrete and compact design, relatively lightweight and easily portable, making it among the most versatile and cost / performance efficient systems in its product class.
