Shure has announced a new firmware update — 1.3.26 — for its recently launched ADX5D Axient digital dual-channel portable wireless receiver that provides third-party integration and control with select portable mixers and recorders from Sound Devices and Aaton Digital.

The new integration and feature set lets users control and monitor the ADX5D from their mix position for functions like scanning and deploying frequencies to receiver channels, adjusting receiver output gain, monitoring transmitter battery life, and more (see country-specific functionality restrictions, below).

Shure will be joined by Sound Devices and Aaton Digital for two individual webinars demonstrating third-party integration and the additional features included in Axient Digital ADX5D’s latest firmware update at these dates/times:

Shure/Sound Devices – Monday, October 18, 11 am, U.S. CST
Shure/Aaton Digital – Tuesday, October 19, 11 am U.S. CST

“We’re proud to offer our ADX5D customers a reliable means of integrating their portable, wireless solutions with the cutting-edge mixers and recorders from Aaton and Sound Devices,” says Adi Neves, associate product manager at Shure. “With the introduction of third-party integration and control, our goal is to bring the superior RF performance, spectral efficiency, and transparent audio quality of Axient Digital to more audio professionals who are pushing boundaries in the film and broadcast industry.”

“We were very happy to collaborate with Shure, both in Chicago and in Europe, on integration between our devices,” adds Jacques Delacoux, owner and CEO of Aaton Digital. “ADX5D fits right into our HYDRA system and communicates with our Cantar recorder-mixers. Our products have been used successfully for the sound of many of the last Oscars™ movies, notably ‘Sound of Metal,’ Oscar winner for best sound 2021, awarded to Philippe Bladh.”

“Sound Devices is excited to have collaborated with our friends at Shure on SuperSlot integration for the Shure ADX5D receiver and 8-Series mixer-recorders,” notes Gary Trenda, RF applications engineer at Sound Devices. “We’re encouraged by the continued adoption of the SuperSlot protocol by manufacturers across our industry. Having easy access to commonly used Axient Digital functions on the color screen of the 8-Series will streamline system set up and workflows. Being able to quickly scan, view signal quality with history, monitor battery life, and adjust settings makes the 8-Series and Axient Digital a powerful combo.”

ADX5D’s third-party integration and control is currently supported on these devices: Aaton Digital CantarX3, CantarMini mixer-recorders, and Hydra interface system; Sound Devices Scorpio, 888, and 883 mixer-recorders with SL-2 and SL-6 SuperSlot wireless modules

The latest ADX5D firmware also includes Party Dial, designed to enable users to quickly switch between RF channels from a pre-selected group of frequencies, and an Optimized Menu Structure that places the most used features within a few clicks of one another. The current Shortcut Menu has also been enhanced to provide faster access to critical features and menus.
