Peavey Electronics has introduced Aureus, a new digital mixer with a 10-inch multi-touch display and designed to offer access to almost any control within just a couple of taps.
Aureus provides the ability to save and store presets, scenes, and an entire mix onto a USB drive. The onboard dock allows a tablet to be placed as a second screen, so users can monitor the entire mix while adjusting a specific channel or separate group on the mixer.
The mixer includes 14 dedicated encoders, nine motorized faders (100 mm), and 45 dedicated backlit buttons. It’s designed to connect to just about any audio source due to 16 XLR/1/4-inch, RCA, Bluetooth (stereo-long range), and USB (A/B) inputs. Phantom power (48-volt) is available for microphones on the 16 channels. Further, there are 14 outputs, including 10 XLR, USB, and AES digital.
Aureus offers a selection of reverb and delay through Peavey’s proprietary built-in FX series digital effects (23 effects total across two engines) with simple and advanced modes. The five-band EQ is fully parametric for added control and precision.
Further flexibility is intended with eight buses, two mains, and four DCAs, with remote control via onboard Wi-Fi. Password-assigned buses allow each musician to have their own mix and to control it using any device that can open an HTML5 compatible browser. Users can connect up to 10 devices simultaneously to adjust any aspect of the mix.
Also included are three programmable mute groups and six dedicated mute functions, along with dedicated controls on the solo function. Data I/O includes the onboard Wi-Fi and Ethernet remote, while computer connectivity consists of Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and USB port. The unit also includes a 1.25-inch headphone jack.
Aureus is rack-mountable and measures 6.5 x 15 x 19.5 inches (H x W x D), and weight is 16 pounds. Retail price is $1,499.99 USD.
