Nexo Geo T Rig Powers ‘Fantabulous’ Concert In Chicago

Sound was provided by 'The Nexo Guys' of Gand Concert Sound who brought enough Nexo gear to throw a party.

The Allstate Arena in Chicago was the scene of the Live Nation/103.5 KISS FM six-hour late May concert event billed as ‘Fantanbuloso’ featuring Ludacris, Ke$ha, Jay Sean, Trey Songz, Kevin Rudolf, Jason Derulo, B.o.B and Orianthi which sold out the venue’s 14,000 seats.

Gand Concert Sound of Glenview, Illinois provided the supersized PA for ‘Fantanbuloso.’

Known as ‘The NEXO Guys’, the sound company provided a 72-box NEX GEO T system flown in four hangs with 28 CD18 subwoofers under the stage.

Stage monitors were also NEXO and included PS15 wedges and Alpha side fills. NEXO PS10’s were provided for front fill immediately downstage for the concert-going SRO dancers.

Total power for the system came in at 300,000 watts provided by Camco V6, Camco 200V and Yamaha PC9501N amps with NEXO NX242 controllers. The new NEXO NX4X4 amps with integrated controller on board were used on the subwoofers.

“This was the same amount of gear we used last summer at the Superdome in New Orleans for roughly three times the seating,” states Gary Gand, President, Gand Concert Sound.”

Consoles included a Yamaha PM5D-RH at FOH and a PM5D-RH and Yamaha M7CL for monitors. Sixteen channels of Shure UHF-R with KSM9 capsules and eight channels of Sennhieser IEM finished up the wireless compliment for entertainers.

“We had a semi full of NEXO gear and decided to bring it all and throw one big party!” says Tim Swan, Gand VP.

Lead tech Adam Rosenthal said, “We couldn’t fit anymore subs under the stage. Not that we needed more. It just would have been fun to levitate the stage.”
