New Hospital In Indonesia Equipped With Renkus-Heinz ICLive X

Ballroom at facility in Java serving as the country’s center of brain and nerve health services equipped with arrays comprised of IXLX and ICLXL modules joined by ICLX-118S subwoofers.

A new hospital in Java, Indonesia established to serve as the country’s center of brain and nerve health services, encompassing 11 stories and 11,000 square meters with beds for up to 350 patients, also includes a 590-square-meter ballroom that’s equipped with steerable loudspeakers from Renkus-Heinz to deliver intelligible audio for medical seminars.

The hospital worked with PT Kairos Multi Jaya, Renkus-Heinz’s Indonesian distributor together with PT DKSI, for help outfitting the audio system in the ballroom. They recommended Renkus-Heinz’s ICLive X Series steerable arrays to meet the hospital’s goals of even coverage and high intelligibility.

“There was no acoustic treatment in the ballroom, so the reverberation was considerable. Complicating matters further was that one wall consisted almost entirely of windows,” says Damaran Kristanto, system designer with Kairos Multi Jaya. “We chose ICLive X to direct sound to the audience and avoid areas without acoustic treatment. The loudspeakers are also slim and very easy to install, and the SPL was high enough that delay loudspeakers were not required.”

Kairos Multi Jaya installed two arrays in the ballroom, each comprised of one ICLX and one ICLXL. Four ICLX-118S subwoofers round out the system.

The ICLX steerable array module includes six 19 mm compression drivers on an Acoustic Source Multiplier (ASM) waveguide coaxially mounted in front of two 8-inch woofers. The woofer arrangements are designed to significant pattern control down to lower frequencies for added steerability and directivity to deliver consistent coverage and clarity in challenging spaces.

The exclusive ASM waveguide is designed to minimize acoustic source spacing, helping to ensure more optimal high-frequency steering with no lobe distortions for consistent performance. Additionally, the ASM allows the high-frequency section to be coaxially mounted in front of the low-frequency section, producing a consistent and symmetrical wave of high and low frequencies along the entire length of the array.

“We’ll continue using ICLive X for challenging acoustic environments like the hospital’s ballroom,” concludes Kristanto. “The system works brilliantly, and we haven’t received any complaints. The beam steering is second to none for reverberant spaces.”
