VUE Audiotechnik rental partner AV Technik, based in Portland, ME, has expanded its inventory with the addition of VUE al-8 Acoustic Linearity line arrays joining the company’s al-4 arrays.
Headed by company president Daniel Willis, AV Technik provides sound reinforcement for events at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland on a regularly basis. The acoustically familiar venue proved a good place for audio veteran Jeff Taylor to provide the AV Technik team with training on the new inventory. with flown al-8 arrays joined by al-4 modules beneath and hs-221-E dual 21-inch subwoofers on the ground.
“We work a ton in that space and they had a dark day, which was perfect timing and allowed us to play with the system for the day,” Willis explains. “The multi-level seating has lots of nooks that always present audio coverage challenges. With Jeff Taylor’s assistance and use of the SystemVUE control software, we could properly attenuate the al-4s directed at the floor seats in front of the stage, while making sure the throw provided proper coverage at the back of each balcony seat.”
