JBL VLA Loudspeakers Utilized In University Of Missouri Football Stadium Audio System Upgrade

Specializing in supplying and installing sound equipment throughout large athletic venues, worldwide A/V integrator Daktronics upgraded the sound system in the 68,349-seat Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field, home of the University of Missouri Tigers football team.

Utilizing a JBL VLA end zone loudspeaker solution wrapped around the Tigers’ new scoreboard, consulted by Dallas, Texas-based Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams, Daktronics completely and evenly covered the famed 85-year-old stadium for the enjoyment of all “Mizzou” fans.

“The JBL VLA speakers’ 60-degree horizontal reach allowed us to attain very uniform sound throughout the sunken stadium,” stated Doug Dodge of Daktronics.

“In our experience, they are the only speaker line out there designed to look and sound like a line array, but actually allow for complete side fill with only one rig.”

The scoreboard was fitted with 28 VLA601H-WRC in four arrays and augmented by three PD743-WRC loudspeakers.

Through an existing fiber-optic infrastructure, Daktronics connected the system utilizing Harman’s HiQnet System Architect and BSS London processing.

“We were impressed with how painless it was to install such a great, contemporary system in this large, outdoor, older stadium,” continued Dodge.

“It’s a real business advantage to exceed clients’ expectations when using the JBL equipment.”
